In addition to renting apartments, all kinds of side-line activities were a big part of VOAS in the past. Hostel Tekla and restaurant All Stars served students, tourists, and locals in Vaasa.

VOAS developed the oldest student dormitory into a service centre, which functioned as a summer hotel and student dormitory. The restaurant All Stars, operating in the same building, became a regular hangout for students. There was also a popular French style lobby bar in which students liked to spend time.

Hostel Tekla offered badminton, tennis, and squash courts, gym, solarium, and minigolf for everyone visiting or living in Vaasa.
