Avfallssortering
Here you can find instructions for waste sorting in Vaasa area. Please note, that all other waste (such as electronic waste or old furniture) must be recycled accordingly and may not be left at a VOAS recycling spot. You can find more information and instructions on Stormossen’s website.
Bioavfall
Bioavfall är organiskt avfall som förmultnar. Bioavfall blir till kompostjord och biogas vid Stormossen.
- Food leftovers, spoiled food
- Fruit and vegetable peels
- Coffee filters and teabags
- Fish trimmings and bones
- Cut flowers
- Napkins, paper towels
- Solid and congealed fats. Cooking oil in a sealed carton packaging.
Biowaste is sorted in a paper bag.
Carton packages
- Milk and juice cartons
- Cereal boxes, pizza boxes
- Paper bags
- Cardboard boxes
- Toilet and kitchen roll tubes
- Disposable tableware made of cardboard
- Void fill made of paper or cardboard
The packages should be empty, clean, dry, flattened and packed inside one another.
Batterier
- Batterier

Plastförpackningar
- Food packaging, such as tomato boxes, yogurt cups or packaging for sliced meats
- Shampoo, soap and washing liquid bottles
- Plastic bottles, canisters and containers
- Plastic bags and wrappings
- Void fill made of plastic
The packaging should be dry and clean. Other plastic than packaging is sorted as mixed waste (combustible waste).
Blandavfall (brännbart avfall)
- Dirty packaging made of plastic, paper, or cardboard
- Diapers and sanitary towels
- Plastic items, such as toys, dish- and toothbrushes, containers
- Socks, underwear, shoes, bags, brushes, make-up
- Ash and cigarette butts
- Cat sand, dog waste bags, dust bags
- Occasional drinking glasses, porcelain, crystalware and ceramics
- Incandescent light bulbs and halogen lamps (other lamps to waste reception station)
- Eggshells
Glasförpackningar
- Glass bottles
- Glass jars
Rinse dirty glass packaging with cold water or wipe with paper. Remove lids and caps. Labels and rings do not need to be removed.
Only glass jars and glass bottles belong to the collection of glass packaging. Small
amounts of crystalware, drinking glasses and ceramics is sorted as mixed waste
(combustible waste).

- Non-pressurised aerosol cans
- Small metal household items
Bring large-sized metal objects that don’t fit into the container to a waste reception station.
Papper
- Dry and clean paper
- Daily newspapers, magazines
- Leaflets, catalogues
- Envelopes
- Copy paper and printouts
